Catelynn's Scottish Adventure

We just got back from a 10 day trip to Scotland. Catelynn met many of her great uncles and aunts, cousins and most importantly her Great Granny and Great Grandad. We tok a couple of trips to introduce Catelynn to the beautiful scottish countryside. But enough words for now, here are the pictures.

Out and About in Glasgow

Between chasing the pigeons and listening to bagpipers in the streets Catelynn was never bored in Glasgow.

Great Granny and Great Grandad O'Lone

Catelynn met her Great Grandad O'Lone and Great Granny O'Lone for the first time. She loved listening to her Great Grandad play Amazing Grace on the harmonica and Great Granny " play" piano with her fingers and laughing together.

Off To the Highlands

To let Catelynn experience the great Scottish outdoors we booked a day tour to take us to the highlands. First stop was Loch Lomond.

Catelynn Meets a Highland Piper

One of the stops on the way to Glencoe was at a scenic stop where a piper was there to entertain.

On To Glencoe

We also saw Red Deer and then it was onto Glencoe, site of the famous Clan MacDonald massacre. Although it was sunny when we left Glasgow, by the time we got to Glencoe the clouds had rolled in and the mountains looked ominous. I personally prefer it this way. There's definitily a better " mood' with this kind of weather :)

The Hills Are Alive With Heather

Nothing is as beautiful as seeing the Scottish Mountains blanketed by purple heather. And Catelynn enjoyed plucking the heather as much as I enjoyed looking at it .

Great Great Uncle McRae

We also met Great Great Uncle Tom McRae ( Michele's dad's Uncle) and Grandad McRae's cousin Helen.

St. Andrews

We decided to go to St. Andrews, home of Scotland's oldest University and the home of golf . Ken took his first golf lesson at the St. Andrews Links Academy. It is a town full of amazing medeival architecture and gorgeous beaches. We definitely plan on going back again in the future.

Catelynn Frolics on the Beaches of St. Andrews

Although she loved spending time with all her new relatives, I think Catelynn's favorite part of the trip was playing on the beach. At one point she fell in the water and we had to take all her wet clothes off. She ended up running naked down the beach but we won't be posting any of those pictures ;)

More Frolicing

Long Time Friends

Joyce O'Donnell has been Granny McRae's best friend for over 30 years and Jacqueline and Michele went to elementary school together. No matter how much time goes by it always seams like we just left yesterday.

Cousin Logan

Catelynn's second cousin Logan is only 11 1/2 months old but he almost as tall as her and weighs about 5 lbs more. He is going to be a really big boy when he grows up. They got along really well and even traded binky's before too long.

Time to Go

Well, it was time to say goodbye to Great Granny and Great Grandad O'Lone. We will miss them lots but hope to return again soon.
